CPRS’s who incorporate education in differing areas build a knowledge base of intuitive self-awareness thus increasing the long-term commitment to the occupation. This training will explore and differentiate the skills and training issues unique to CPRS staff. CPRS staff work in many different roles with many different type programs – each has unique issues that make it necessary to have self-awareness and healthy professional boundaries. Self-care training is essential for peer specialists because the work can be emotionally intensive, model healthy behaviors, and prevent burn-out and compassion fatigue.
This TAADAS Self-Care training is intended to offer support for those who are currently Certified Peer Recovery Specialists (CPRS). Facilitators will provide education to practical understanding of the importance of self-care. In Tennessee, self-care training with a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) is an important part of both peer support services and workforce development in behavioral health. In recovery peers begin to acknowledge, gain awareness, and change self-care thoughts and behaviors by positive self-talk and other coping mechanisms. This training is $30 per person.
